This book is is the collection of Vladimir Nabokov's letters to his wife Véra during their various times apart in the course of their marriage. Mostly mundane details, such as people he's met and meals he's eaten, along with some delving into monetary affairs and his much-beloved hobby of butterfly collecting. Given Nabokov's penchant for creating a fictitious persona to present to the world, his early letters are a rare glimpse of the man before he has achieved wealth, fame, and a polished facade.
